I had a decent stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen. The staff were super polite and helpful, which made me feel welcome. The breakfast buffet had a good variety, but I was disappointed by the limited dinner options. The room was cozy but showed its age a bit, and while the shower had great water pressure, it could really use some fixing.
Rooms

The rooms were rather small, typical of most Japanese-style accommodations, but mine was cozy with a large table that fit a group perfectly. However, the outdated features did show.
Service
7.0
The service was fantastic! The staff were all very nice and eager to help, but it would be better if more of them spoke English or Chinese, especially for non-Japanese guests.
Location

The location was awesome for skiing since it was ski in/ski out, but it did feel a bit cramped at times with all the skiers and gear around. I would imagine it could be less appealing for those not skiing.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast offered a nice mix of Japanese and Western dishes, but dinner options were lacking and quite pricey, which made it tough, especially in freezing temperatures.
Facilities

Facilities included dry cleaning and a free city shuttle, which were handy, but I wished there were more dining options available in the evenings.

My stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen was a mixed bag. The hotel was very clean and neat, which I appreciated, and the staff were genuinely nice and helpful. However, the dining options left a lot to be desired, especially for those of us who enjoy Western cuisine. Plus, it could get a bit crowded, making the atmosphere feel a bit claustrophobic at times.

I found the room spacious enough for my group of four, with two beds on one side and a Japanese-style area with a low table. I appreciated that the room could quickly dry off damp ski clothes, but the shower head definitely needed some repair.

The staff were super polite and helpful, though I wish there were more who could speak English or Chinese. It made communication a bit tricky at times, especially with some of the details around eco cleaning.

The ski-in/ski-out convenience is awesome, but the hotel felt pretty crowded with skiers and equipment at times. I also didn't like that I couldn't ski back after dark since the track had no lights.

The breakfast buffet was decent, offering a mix of Japanese and Western options, but I was kinda disappointed with the lack of dinner choices. It would be nice if the plaza food court expanded its hours.

The resort offered handy amenities like dry cleaning and a free city shuttle, which were great. However, the lack of more extensive dining options made eating out challenging when it was freezing outside.

I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen, mainly due to the clean and tidy environment and the helpful staff. The breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of both Japanese and western dishes, though I was a bit disappointed by the limited dinner options. The location is fantastic for skiing, but it did feel crowded at times.

My room was spacious and comfortable, featuring two beds on one side, a traditional Japanese tatami area, and a conference table that could seat six. It was perfect for accommodating four people and had a separate bathroom and toilet.
Service

The staff were very nice and eager to help, although I noticed that communication could be a challenge since many only spoke Japanese. It would be beneficial if more English or Chinese-speaking staff were available for international guests.

The ski-in/ski-out access was a key highlight for me, making it easy to hit the slopes. However, due to the sheer number of skiers and ski equipment around, the atmosphere could feel a bit claustrophobic and crowded.

I found the dining options to be decent with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, but the dinner menu was quite repetitive. I think extending the plaza food court to offer dinner would be a big improvement.

I had a pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen, though there were some areas that could use improvement. My room was spacious, very clean, and had excellent water pressure, but the shower head needed repairs. The staff were fantastic and very polite, yet I noticed a language barrier for non-Japanese speakers. The location is unbeatable for skiing, but the limited dinner options were a downside. Overall, while it was a good experience, there were definitely some aspects that could be better. 😊
